Power, explosive, visual, brute, stubborn – are all words that come to mind when we think about Giant Trevally or GT as they are affectionately known.
They are one of the world’s best sport fishing target species and how lucky are we to have them in abundance throughout the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of the Whitsundays.

The Great Barrier Reef off the Whitsundays
The best geographical location on the coast for targeting the GT.
A combination of our larger tides and the most complex, intertwining reef systems on the coast, create the prime habitat for the GT. The fast rising and lowering waters around these systems, hold large schools of bait and you guessed it, hungry GTs waiting to blast through the nervously stacked bait fish schools.
Casting for GTs with rods and reels in the 100lb range, is traditionally the method with large topwater poppers and stickbaits enticing the explosive bites. These fish hit like freight trains and test even the most experienced angler.

We offer 1 to 7 nights for up to 4 guests, fishing for the mighty GT on board our Liveaboard game fishing vessel, which is equipped for comfortable liveaboard trips to the outer Great Barrier Reef. Or for the ultimate Gt Sport Fishing Expedition, jump on board our Mothership and accompanying sport fishing centre consoles.
All meals are supplied, along with water. BYO alcohol in moderation.
Bring your own gear
Guests are recommended to bring all their own fishing equipment including rods/reels, hooks, terminal tackle and lures. We have equipment available for use for a small hire fee - All terminal tackle and lures can be purchased on the boat (limited)
We also have additional centre consoles available on request for an additional cost, for the longer duration trips.
